Take your miniature painting to the next level with Villainy Ink's Caput Mortuum, a premium enamel wash designed specifically for creating incredibly realistic flesh tones and deep, dramatic shadows. Handcrafted by the experts at the legendary Grimdark Compendium, this wash features a deep red hue with rich purple undertones—making it the ultimate flesh wash for any character.

Whether you are painting battle-hardened fantasy warriors, bruised sci-fi aliens, or dark, sinister creatures, Caput Mortuum provides an organic, lifelike depth. When paired with the reductive technique—where you apply the wash and then gently wipe it away from raised surfaces—this enamel wash easily replaces tedious acrylic shading, dramatically speeding up your painting workflow while delivering stunning results.

Key Features & Hobby Role:

  • Deep Red with Purple Undertones: Perfect for adding realistic depth, bruising, and warmth to flesh recesses across all types of skin tones.

  • Realistic Flesh Finish: Dries with a subtle satin-to-gloss finish that naturally mimics the texture and light reflection of real skin for maximum realism.

  • Perfect Unifying Wash: Flows smoothly into fine lines and muscle definition, easily tying your flesh tones together and establishing effortless contrast.

What’s Included in the Box?

  • 1x Villainy Ink - Caput Mortuum Enamel Wash (Single Bottle)

Important Note for Beginners: Enamel washes are solvent-based rather than water-based like standard acrylic hobby paints. To get the absolute best results and use the "reductive technique" (applying the wash and gently wiping the excess off of raised areas), we highly recommend using a bottle of odorless mineral spirits (enamel thinner) along with cotton swabs or makeup sponges. Always paint with enamels in a well-ventilated space!
