Beginner questions, answered

What kind of gaming experience can I expect?

Our focus is casual, narrative-first play: immersive stories, creative challenges, and games everyone enjoys. We welcome beginners and experienced players, and we do not organize competitive tournaments. Read our Community Standards for player expectations.

Can I rearrange a gaming table or move terrain?

Please keep tables in their designated configurations and ask staff before making changes, including adjustments for a scenario or accessibility needs. Do not move terrain between tables or take items from unused tables. Read our Table Use Policy.

Can I come by myself?

Yes. You are welcome to attend on your own or with friends. You do not need an existing gaming group to book a lesson or join Hobby Night.

Do I need experience or my own army?

No experience or army of your own is needed for an introduction. Tell us you would like loaner models when arranging your session so we can check availability.

Which activities are free?

Our learn-to-play classes, loaner model library, and Hobby Night are free. Free table space is also available for building, painting, and playing. Other classes and special events may have their own prices; check each event listing.

Do I need to book?

Learn-to-play lessons require sign-up so we can arrange an instructor. Use Classes & Events for lesson links and Hobby Night reservations. Check table availability before making a special trip for open play.

Can I just paint instead of playing?

Yes. Hobby Night welcomes people who want help building or painting models. Enjoy the creative side of the hobby and meet fellow hobbyists without needing to play a game.
