Our Community — Battlebrush Games

A place to learn, create, and belong.

Battlebrush Games is a woman-owned hobby studio and tabletop gaming community in Lakeland, Florida, owned and operated by Sarah Howard. We specialize in teaching, art, and community, with a focus on making the new player experience welcoming and approachable.

Casual games. Memorable stories.

Battlebrush Games is a casual, narrative-first tabletop gaming destination. Our gaming spaces, leagues, and events are designed around immersive storytelling, creative challenges, and community—not competitive tournaments or standardized tournament play. Whether you're learning your first game or commanding an army you've spent years building, we believe the best battles are the ones everyone enjoys playing.

Our community starts with beginners

Trying a new hobby can mean learning unfamiliar rules, choosing your first models, or picking up a paintbrush for the first time. Our focus is patient teaching, encouragement, and room to ask questions.

Our free learn-to-play classes, loaner model library, and Hobby Night give you ways to explore a hobby and meet people through shared interests. Come on your own or with friends; you do not need to arrive with a gaming group.

A third space in Lakeland

We want Battlebrush to be a welcoming place beyond home and work where you can spend time creating, learning, and building friendships. Some people come to play, some to paint, and some to enjoy both.

Help keep Battlebrush welcoming

  • Welcome newcomers. Make room for questions and different experience levels. Encourage people who are learning.
  • Treat people with respect. Harassment, discriminatory remarks, bullying, and gatekeeping do not belong in our community.
  • Keep shared spaces comfortable. Practice good personal hygiene, clean up after your projects, and leave tables ready for the next person.
  • Respect people and their belongings. Ask before touching models or tools, taking photos of others, or offering advice.
  • Ask the team for help. If something makes you uncomfortable or you need help joining in, speak with a staff member.

Our community policies

Player Conduct & Community Standards: Our approach to casual, narrative-first play and the behavior we expect from every guest.

Gaming Tables, Terrain & Store Property: Keep each table in its designated configuration. Ask staff before rearranging layouts or moving terrain between tables.

Age and supervision guidelines

All ages are welcome, with activities recommended for ages 8 and up. Guests under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. Guests ages 16 and older may attend independently.
